Why this route is worth researching

Tushemisht and Drilon sit east of Pogradec and are two of the best-known natural stops on the Albanian side of Lake Ohrid. Drilon is associated with springs, greenery, wooden bridges, paths, and birds, while Tushemisht has village character, beach access, and restaurants. Together they make a strong half-day plan around a calm paddle.

Route shape

The safest plan depends on wind, ability, and launch point. Many guests are best served by a shoreline out-and-back rather than an ambitious one-way route. Stay close enough to return comfortably, avoid sensitive reed or bird areas, and turn around early if afternoon wind begins to build.

Kayak or SUP?

Choose a kayak if you want stability, distance, or a tandem option. Choose SUP if the lake is calm, you want a shorter scenic session, and you are comfortable turning back when wind changes. For most first-time visitors, a kayak is the more forgiving craft for this route.

Need a simpler first paddle?

Start with a Pogradec beach out-and-back, then build toward Tushemisht or Drilon once you know the conditions.
